Week 97.3 Jul. 10 - Sourdough Mountain

Total Distance: Approximately 12 miles
Elevation Gain: Approximately 5200 ft.
Time: 10:00 am - 5:30 pm
Weather: Mostly sunny, warm, and beautiful.

Beast of a day hike.  This hike was a challenge, but in a great way.  We were rewarded with insane view, albeit there was a haze in the southern skies.

Orchid: What a great end to 7 days of adventures with two great friends.

Onion: The downhill decent to drive back to Tacoma, leaving my friend's Mazama cabin behind.

  1. Great pic, thanks. We're thinking of doing it soon.
Where abouts does the snow meet you now? Is the camp and creek clear?

  2. Lilyanna - I did not have a map or know the trail that well. We hiked for about 2 and half or 3 hours snow free. We carried ice axes, and we were able to kick steps up to a little saddle and then hike along the ridge. We lost the trail to snow before we saw a turn off for the satellite. Good luck, be safe, and enjoy the views.
